There was also a bulk room with dry goods and 20 gallon vats of tahina and honey. There were two cars, Yin and Yang who lived there and kept the East Village rats at bay. One of them for hooked on nutritional yeast and we had to put up signs to beware as he would jump into the bin! Whenever Redemption Song plates(at least once a day) everyone would sing along. Great memories, Bruce was the owner, good guy.Brett Vhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03832966930823716143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1628504626528920740.post-7328236429978269592018-11-20T18:01:08.492-08:002018-11-20T18:01:08.492-08:00I used to work in Prana Foods in 1987 while at the...I used to work in Prana Foods in 1987 while at the same time working and living in a then squatted building at 535 E13th between Avenues A and B. The owner/manager of Prana was Bruce Raddock and the food was trully amazing. Used to love the organic peanut butter produced in the store! I now live in Cyprus (my home country) since April 1 1988.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18266668044001256434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1628504626528920740.post-77752911729216138862017-11-19T14:58:15.840-08:002017-11-19T14:58:15.840-08:00If you uncover anything about Franks or the precur...If you uncover anything about Franks or the precursor to Prana, I would love to hear about it. It had a long history, though -- it was going in 1983 when I first moved to the East Village. Prana itself was the successor to a truly old school (pre-hippie!) health food store which was before my time -- called "Franks" maybe. So people were buying beans and miso and other exotica for many decades. Except for a brief fun as a hookah bar, the place has been vacant for nearly 10 years.Bluemirrorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15549987425643243762noreply@blogger.com
